Reasons why sleeping in a bra is a bad idea





Sleeping with your  bra on especially when it's ill-fitting or too tight is the worst thing to do for the breasts. According to research, bra-free women have about the same incidence of breast cancer as men, while the incidence rises the tighter and longer one wears a bra. Putting on bra to bed doesn't only make you susceptible to cancer, it can also be harmful in various ways. Listed below are some reasons why you should stop sleeping in a bra.


  • It inhibits circulation
This is one of the main things that suffer when you sleep in bra. If the bra is too tight against your skin, your pectoral muscles will be constricted. This will affect blood circulation and the nerves in your arms. Why risk it?
  • Hyperpigmentation
This is when there is indentations, red marks or darkening of a particular area of the skin as a result of the straps and hooks of the bra that are constantly in contact with the skin. 
  • Skin irritation
Another important side-effect of sleeping in bra. The hooks and the straps of the bra can protrude into the skin and cause lesion or cysts when left for too long. This will lead to irritations which i believe you would want to avoid
  • Inflammation and fluid retention
Wearing constrictive or too-tight bra to bed can be detrimental to blood flow (as earlier stated) and lymphatic drainage leading to chronic inflammation and fluid retention. The lymph glands help remove toxins from the breast area so impaired lymph drainage will lead to fluid and toxin retention instead of pushing them out. This can eventually lead to breast cancer. Now who doesn't want to avoid breast cancer?
  • Breast fungus
Developing breast fungus is one of the harmful effects of regularly sleeping in bra. The warm and moist environment serves as a breeding ground for fungi. Here is the case most women will spend most of their lives wearing bra so you can imagine the likelihood of developing breast fungus. Removing the bra at night will make this less likely.


Now that you've seen the dangers you're prone to when you sleep in bra, i believe you will take the noble step of setting the tatas free. I challenge you to try going bra-free for a month or two and feel the difference. Avoid sleeping in bra to bed and your whole body will forever be grateful.
